Gmail: How to Use Apple Mail

IT Services recommends that you not use Apple Mail. Using Google's web interface requires no setup and, as long as you keep your browser up to date, will require no maintenance on your part. However, if you still want to proceed, follow the steps below to set up Apple Mail.

  • Turn on IMAP access in Google Workspace. The following steps will not work unless IMAP has been enabled.
  • Open your Mac's System Preferences.
  • Click Internet Accounts.
  • Click Google.
  • Follow the prompts to add your Google Workspace account.
  • Close the Internet Accounts dialog box.
