How to Resolve the Spinning Icon in MS Office

Problem: When attempting to save an Office document, the computer appears to pause and an icon spins for a time before saving.
Solution: The Recently Opened documents list can cause this issue. Clear out this list. The results should be immediately recognizable. Note: clearing the list does not remove your "pinned" documents.

Clear the Recently Opened Documents List in Word or Excel:
- Select the File menu
- Select Options
- Select Advanced
- Scroll down to the Display section
- Set the Show this number of Recent Documents/Workbooks option to 0
- Click OK
